Press Information Bureau, New Delhi (www.pib.nic.in) serves Indian Press and correspondents of Foreign Press (who are stationed in India) with news materials and photographs which give details about the policies and programmes of the Government of India. The Bureau acts as link between the Government and the public through the Press, keeping the Government in touch with the main trends of public opinion as reflected in the Press. The services of the Bureau are made available to the press in 16 languages. It distributes Press material to over 8400 newspaper establishments. In order to facilitate access to information from the government sources at HQ, PIB has provided accredition to select number of correspondents and cameramen and has granted these professional facilities to technicians, editors/media critics.
