The most important thing needed is self-confidence, the attitude that if others can do it why not me? Just dressing well will not convey to your prospective employers that you could deliver the results. Anyone can dress well. Having a positive attitude goes a long way. You should have the firm conviction that you can do it. Only then will you be able to do it. Negativity, bad attitude, bad posture never help and should, therefore, never be encouraged. For instance, facing an interview after a quarrel at home, bitter memories of a former employer and things to that effect might mar your prospects. Harbouring negativity, hoping miracles to happen has the potential of disappointment.
One should not at the same' time be disappointed at rejections. Many successful people have histories of initial failures, but their self-confidence and strong will power brought them eventual success. If possible, try to make out what went wrong and endeavour to avoid such minus points in future.
Over-smartness does not always pay, much less at interviews. No one likes this trait, much less employers. Trying to give the impression what is not inherent in your nature is a sure way to give out the truth which is more despicable.
Hoping for a high-paying job to land out of the blue rarely meets with success to start with. Rather a post that gives job satisfaction should be preferred. When you have this satisfaction you may do well and your employers may more likely give you a raise or two. Consider this scenario compared to the one with a high-paying job in which you have neither competence nor inclination, always looking and aiming for better pastures. In the process you may even get fired.
