EBITDA before special items of the Bayer Group in the third quarter of 2010 slightly exceeded the prior-year level for the first time this year. HealthCare and Material Science contributed to this positive development. Sales and earnings of HealthCare increased. Material Science showed a tangible recovery; almost doubled earnings compared with the preceding quarter and thus reached approximately the level of the prior-year period.
